Fort Kochi Beach

Pick a souvenir from the quaint antique and curio shops lining the Fort Kochi beach! The Fort Kochi Beach adorns the western coast of Kochi city. The beach derives its name from the historic fort which is an example of European architecture. The Annual Kochi New Year Festival takes place on the sands of the Fort Kochi beach. This beach is lined with Chinese nets and is a sight to see them in operation. The beach is a crowded one and is dotted with restaurants offering various cuisines with genuine seafood being the favourite. Hawkers sell different types of trinkets and it is a shopper’s paradise. There are many places that you can visit near the Fort Kochi Beach: the Dutch Palace which now houses a museum and the Jew Street which is a quaint area. There are only a handful of Jews now but still, the Torah is read from the Tebah at all auspicious times. The synagogue had over 11000 tiles each of which is different from the other. Other activities that can engage the tourist are boat rides along the backwaters and enjoy the famous Kathakali performances by local artists. For a beach person, the other beaches that are close by and worth visiting are the Marari Beach and the Cherai Beach. No Kerala tour is complete without a visit to the Fort Kochi beach.
